So it's come up in a few places in your news feed. people are talking about it on Twitter: "Hire a Virtual Assistant", they say, "you can't go wrong in delegating your time-consuming, administrative tasks to these professionals".

Okay, so they are like Personal Assistants, but they work on a Virtual basis. What possible administrative tasks could they do without having to be in my physical presence?

Whether you're interested in becoming a VA, or are looking to hire one, keep reading for more information about what it is exactly that VAs do.

The answer isn't very simple. Essentially, Virtual Assistants can perform a great load of work for you and your business. Good VAs are a type of 'jack of all trades' that work not only in admin support, but in marketing and project management.

The explosion of online tools makes it easy to work with someone over the computer.

Skype allows for face-to-face communication and conference calls, while Google Docs supplies clients and VAs with a platform on which to collaborate on documents, presentations and spreadsheets.

So now that we've established that it is possible, and in fact, beneficial to work with a Virtual Assistant, here is a list of possible tasks a Virtual Assistant can do for you:

Data Entry and Management

Data Entry is a time-consuming task that can easily be delegated.

Whether you're performing Demographic research for your new business plan or have a list of emails that need to be located and sorted, many Virtual Assistants will be willing to take this tedious tasks off your hands.

I personally enjoy taking on projects that require data entry and have worked with various statistics, client and email lists and outreach tasks.

Website and Blog Management

Many VAs have brushed up on their skills in Web design and will assist you in setting up a beautiful website or blog that displays your work and/or brand.

Some may, additionally, make themselves available to help you manage your posts, publish new content and market your blog through Social Media, back-linking and SEO. Some may even be able to edit and proofread your content for you.

Administrative Tasks

These can include general clerical tasks such as responding to emails and taking notes. It may also involve performing tasks that are specific to the company such as increasing online security or recruiting new potential employees.

Marketing, Social Media and Outreach

Social Media

Virtual Assistants are ideal candidates for handling your social media platforms. Many are experienced in this field and know what to tweak and enhance on your accounts to improve your audience outreach and engagement.

They can work on your content, scheduling and interaction with your audience.

Project Management

Delegate an experienced Virtual Assistant to assist you in ensuring a project runs as it should. These are usually long-term projects that tend to come at a higher, yet well-deserved price.

It is important to remember that VAs are available to make your life easier. For more information, see my Services.
